Jake Herman

I'm Jake Herman and I've been involved with exercise since I was 12 years old.  I was an obese child and I hated my body.  I remember fantasizing that one day I would realize I was wearing a fat-suit, and that I would find the zipper and take it off.  To some extent, this came true.  I got into cycling, karate and boxing, and lifting weights.  Incorporating fitness into my life along with clean eating habits made my fantasy into my reality.

Jake's Fitness began in June 2011 when a close friend and workout partner convinced me to offer my services to others.  He pointed out that my love of fitness, dedication to form, and appreciation for proper biomechanics would make me a great trainer and fitness coach.  I was skeptical, but then I acquiesced; I took a client, and never looked back.  I love helping people get healthier, feel better, and look better.

After completing a B.S. in exercise science (from Brooklyn College school of Kinesiology), I am currently enrolled at the NYU School of Medicine towards a Ph.D. in biomechanics. To augment my own knowledge I consult regularly with other biomechanics specialists as well as physical therapists and physicians to help clients get over any hurdle.

My philosophies are holistic; equally valuing strength, flexibility, posture, and endurance.  Balance in the body is a must for health, happiness, and quality of life.  Operating out of a private training studio in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, I mainly train clients one-on-one to work towards the goals of the individual, as everybody has a different background and unique physiology.

If there's a way I can help you on your fitness journey, I would love to try.
